Below is a “photogallery” or a short paper recently published in Galaxea, Journal of Coral Reef Studies, on the three confirmed coral spawning events on Norfolk Island during the 2021–2022 season. I am very kindly cited as a co-author because of my observations of these events, which I reported to Professor Andrew Baird, chief investigator at the ARC Centre of Excellence for Coral Reef Studies affiliated with James Cook University.
You may find the paper easier to read via this link.
I recorded these exciting events at the time in a couple of blog posts on this website:
Coral spawning, Norfolk Island 2021 (29 December 2021)
The great big coral spawning myth, which also includes an explanatory section from Professor Andrew Baird (18 January 2022)
I would like to thank Andrew, and co-authors Dr Tom Bridge, senior curator, and Dr Peter Cowman, senior research fellow, all at the ARC Centrre of Excellence for Coral Reef Studies.
